BREIN Knowledge Portal Business-IT Alignment How to use the BREIN Knowledge BREIN Business Knowledge BREIN IT Knowledge
BREIN Knowledge Portal
Business-IT alignment is one of the crucial success factors, but still a challenging issue. The BREIN Modelling Framework has the aim to support Business-IT alignment. It makes a basic separation into two layers, namely the Business Knowledge Layer and IT Knowledge Layer. These two layers have to be aligned. Besides that the Modelling Framework is completed by Roadmap supporting how to use the BREIN Knowledge.
We asked the question how to use the BREIN knowledge and found that a lot of knowledge is implicit and therefore difficult to access. Our approach was to externalize this knowledge in form of the "BREIN Roadmap to Convergence" that guiding the user through the BREIN Knowledge space and providing him instructions how to develop software for BREIN and how to integrate existing services with BREIN.
The BREIN Business Knowledge section approaches BREIN and its scenarios from a business perspective. It is divided into the interorganizational view using Supply Chains and the intraorganizational view using Business Processess. The whole is completed by business and goal models. The two BREIN scenarios namely the "Airport scenario" and the "Virtual Engineering scenario" were analysed in detail.
The BREIN IT Knowledge section describes the BREIN scenarios from a technical perspective breaking it down to workflows and service descriptions. Additionally the BREIN architecture is designed and documented using UML diagrams.
